About the tour
On this guided walking tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the past of the charming village of Maia, discovering its history and culture through scenic walks. Enjoy a memorable gastronomic lunch and relax on the tranquil sandy beach of Porto Formoso. Visit the picturesque fishing port, admire cascading waterfalls, and take in the secluded “Praia dos Moinhos,” a beautiful beach known mostly to locals.
Itinerary
- 9:00 AM – Pick-up from your hotel, port, or other accommodation on São Miguel Island
- Head north to the lovely village of Maia, where we’ll start this fantastic coastal walking tour.
- Follow an ancient seaside trail with springs, old water mills, waterfalls, a black sand beach, and, of course, stunning ocean views.
- Lunch: Enjoy a delightful meal at a traditional restaurant
- After lunch, visit the beautiful village of Porto Formoso, where you can explore the charming fishing harbor, see waterfalls, and unwind on the sandy beach, with the chance to swim in the refreshing saltwater.
- 5:00 PM – Return to Ponta Delgada
